How Often Does Your Man Think of the Roman Empire?
The Viral Trad Trend That Speaks Volumes About Western Society
It is a rare thing that something truly constructive emerges out of the viral trend repository that is the modern internet. Most of what is blown up tends towards mind numbing-ly pointless content designed to lure you in and force you to scroll for countless hours. However, amongst this mindless drivel occasionally a pearl surfaces. Something that can perhaps illuminate us. A trend that actually spreads a message of positivity. A trend that highlights truth amongst many that peddle lies or in the very least, nonsense.
The trend that emerged recently, has to do with women asking their men, how often they think about the Roman Empire. A seemingly innocuous thing to be asking someone is it not?
The Roman Empire is known for its absolutely stunning inward collapse. Here in the West, we're in those same times right now. We are so pre-occupied with vapid things such as sports, movies, mentally ill people and their woke ideology, and celebrity, pardon my French, bullshit. That we can't see what is going on and how our government is failing us, on purpose.
“Give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt” - Juvenal
“Two things only the people anxiously desire - bread and circuses.” While the empire was collapsing, the government kept the Roman populace happy by distributing free food and staging huge spectacles. Well we're in the same boat currently and it's strikingly obvious to anyone who has any semblance of critical thinking turned on. The Roman Empire, just like Western countries today, claimed to have been equal for everyone. But it wasn't. The rich got richer and the poor remained poor through experiments of complacency. They gave them entertainment to keep them distracted. Wine and bread were given to the citizens to keep them inebriated and weak. The same thing is going on today. On one end we are having recreational drugs legalized and glorified. This is to keep us sedated and unaware of how we are being raped of resources. On the other end we have pharmaceutical companies and food conglomerates selling us drugs and processed food to keep us sick.
Some of the reason's behind Rome's inevitable fall and the parallels between today's Western society are as follows:
Invasions by Barbarian Tribes
Today, we have unfettered immigration. We have the highest recorded numbers of both legal and illegal immigration in almost all western countries. A country with residents who have no loyalty to it cannot survive.
Economic troubles and overreliance on slave labor
The economy in most Western countries, especially Canada, France, England and other EU countries is collapsing. Slave labour may not technically be legal in these countries, but people are working multiple jobs and still cannot afford to purchase their own property. They are renting absolutely everything in their lives. They are eating fake processed foods and are reliant on a “health system” that doesn't actually heal anything. No slaves here right?
The rise of the Eastern Empire
While the Byzantine Empire is long gone and Constantinople is now Istanbul, we have a new eastern empire to contend with. Communist China.
Overexpansion and military overspending
We've been bogged down in “forever wars” throughout the the Balkans, The Middle East, Asia, Africa, and now Ukraine. These are nothing more than money laundering schemes on a massive scale meant to enrich the companies involved in both the war, and the post conflict “rebuilding” of these nations, with generous kickbacks being given to the politicians with vested interests in these companies such as Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. This spending comes from our tax dollars.
Government corruption and political instability
To the reader who has his wits about him, he knows that at this point damn near every politician is paid off or has prostituted themselves to some corporation or special interest group. When an honest one comes along to challenge the status quo, they quickly get hushed using a variety of different methods. Instability has been present especially acutely over the past 8 years.
Loss of traditional values and religion
We as a society have become increasingly agnostic, atheist, and downright hateful towards any Christian tradition. It is openly accepted that mockery of Jesus Christ is okay and any attempt to glorify him should be shut down. We've lost our north star and thus we wander aimlessly and without purpose as a society.
Weakening of the Roman legions
Rome's military might was once the envy of the world. But during the decline, the makeup of the once mighty legions began to change. They were unable to recruit enough soldiers from the Roman citizenry. The same thing is occuring now with Western countries and their militaries. Whether it was forced vaccine mandates causing exodus’s from the ranks. Or those same vaccines injuring over 10% of the Canadian military. Or the fact that our recruiting pool is so small due to there being no able bodied men available as most of them are unhealthy, sick and generally physically and mentally weak. We are seeing a drastic decline in our sovereignty and ability to defend ourselves. Not to mention we are defunding our military and cutting budgets left, right and centre.
The Crux of the problem is that the average citizen of the West today is the same as the average citizen of Rome back then. As long as his belly is full and he is sufficiently distracted with whatever “circus” is being performed currently, he will do nothing about it. We have parents losing their children to the state and being taken for forced sterilization and gender reassignment surgery. No this is not 1942 Germany with Wirths and Mengele at the helm of some sick and sadistic experiments. This is Canada 2023. And no one is batting an eye lid.
Alas, this is a wake up call not a doomsday article. The point of this piece is to highlight that it is good that men are beginning to think about these things and draw parallels between our society today and one of the best examples of a civilization that crumbled from within. It is a bright light we are witnessing and it means there is a shift in the tide of what is occupying the conscience of young men alike. Bright is the future where young men take up knowledge and truth as their bastions of moral positioning.
